PDF Split/Remove

Location:  Management->Split PDFs

The Lexbe eDiscovery Platform (LEP) has the capability to split PDF documents into smaller independent PDF documents.  This page allows the user to split PDF documents according to instructions that have been setup from the Document Viewer->Doc Tab.  The user that sets up the split instructions and the user that performs the splitting can be separate users.

Instructional Video:

For video instruction on splitting documents in LEP, follow this link.

To execute splits, from the main menu go to Management->Split PDFs.

The split request will be displayed as a "Split Task".  Click on the Split link to the left of Edit (see below) for that particular task.

Re-enter the document breaks in the "Range String" text box (i.e. 1-3, 4-7, etc) and click "Split Document". Be sure to not include any spaces between the commas, or the document will not split and generate an error message.

The documents will be split according to their breaks and the original document will not be effected. Links to all split documents will be displayed under the "Split Documents" column.  The link to the original document will be under "Document to Split".

If the master document contained coding, the split documents will assume those designations.  It is best practice to split documents before coding.  The master document remains in the system for reference, but can be deleted.

There may be data dependent limits on the number of splits that can occur inside of a document, such as file corruption. See Corrupt PDF Files for more information. If you run into any issues using the split function, contact Professional Services.
