Sanction II

Lexbe users may export documents from the Lexbe eDiscovery Platform (LEP) and import them into Sanction II litigation presentation software from Verdict Systems.

To move documents from LEP
to Sanction II, complete the following steps (detailed below):
  • Identify Documents to Export.
  • Export to Briefcase and Unzip.
  • Open the Import New Items window in Sanction.
  • Drag and drop files into Sanction.

Identify Documents for Export

The user may identify documents for export in a number of ways.  One way is to mark the documents for export as "key documents" in the Document tab of the Document Viewer and then filter on Key Documents in the Browse view.

A second way is to use Custom Doc Fields for this purpose. Rename an unused custom tag as Export to Sanction (Management>Manage Custom Doc Fields). Tag all appropriate documents in the Doc tab of the Document Viewer. Filter on the new Export to Sanction field in the Browse View.

In either case, the file name should be descriptive as the file name will be imported into Sanction and used to identify the document in that program.

Export to LEP Briefcase

To export the filtered documents to a local computer, click Export to Briefcase. The use will be prompted where to save the Zip file ( that has been created. Save to a local computer (desktop). Unzip the files in the Briefcase.  Delete the File Index.xls (this file is created by LEP with links to versions of documents in LEP and on the local drive).  This file is not needed in Sanction.

To export timelines, go to the timeline module (Analysis>Facts and Issues). Select the issue to export and Export to Word or Export to Excel.  Save to the Briefcase folder.

Import into Sanction

Open the case in Sanction II. Open the following dialog:(Import>Add by Browsing>Directory Tree). An import window will open. From here the user may select (with the mouse) the documents in the Briefcase to import into Sanction.  When completed, the documents will be imported into Sanction. The documents will be under the Documents tab. For PDF files, images of each page in each document will be present in the list view.
