Sentiment Analysis

Overview

This technical note describes Lexbe’s Email Sentiment Analysis+ service which uses a Natural Language Processing (NLP) service to code email messages as positive, neutral or negative in overall sentiment. This is offered as part of Lexbe’s AI Insights service.

Background

Lexbe’s Email Sentiment Analysis+ service can be run on email files within a Lexbe eDiscovery Platform (LEP) case and uses natural language processing to detect the overall sentiment/emotional tone of the document categorizing the value as either positive or negative.

The sentiment values are maintained per document in custom checkbox fields (Positive and Negative) within the LEP case. This allows for easy filtering and isolation. If no checkbox value is returned for a particular document, that concludes that the sentiment is neutral. This service can be particularly beneficial when working with emotionally charged disputes.

Benefits

Lexbe’s Sentiment Analysis service can assist in:

    • Finding ‘smoking gun’ emails

    • Finding important emails when full review of all email is not practicable

    • Understanding dispute themes

    • Speeding review
