Creating an OpenAI Account and API Key
To access full functionality of the Smart Tab, users must have a ChatGPT account and an API key from OpenAI. Use of an API key provides users with certain security guarantees from OpenAI, and uses a pay-for-what-you-use billing structure. Follow the below instructions to generate and use an OpenAI API key.
Visit https://platform.openai.com and click Sign Up.
Follow the onscreen instructions to create an OpenAI account.
Once the account is created and you're logged in, expand the collapsed menu on the left side of the screen.
Click on Settings then Billing.
Add a billing method (this is required and your API key will not work until this is setup).
Click on API Keys.
From this page you'll be able to generate API keys for any users associated with the account. Click "Generate new secret key" to receive an API key.
Copy the API key and then follow the instructions found on our Third Party Applications page to link your OpenAI account to Lexbe.
