About
This page discusses how to apply Custom Designations during a document Production such as Attorneys' Eyes Only; Highly Confidential; Subject to Protective Order; and other designations beyond the simple "Confidential" designation. LEP now allows users to have multiple Custom Designations in a single production job.
How to determine if documents need a Custom Designation
Custom Designations are gnerally set forth in a court's eDiscovery Order, Protective Order, or similar requiring that certain documents bear an additional designation to denote heightened confidentiality when under review by the receiving party.
Process for Adding Custom Designations to a Production Job
The process for setting up and adding Custom Designations is outlined below and the process first requires that an Account Administrator add the desired Custom Designations to the case so that they are available for selection during review and coding.
Adding the Custom Designations to the Case (Account Administrator Users ONLY)
1. Navigate to the Account tab and select Manage Cases.
2. Click on the account name to view the cases associated with the account (all accounts for which you are an Account Administrator appear on the left side of the screen).
3. Select the desired case where you would like the Custom Designations to appear.
4. From the Edit Case menu, click the Designations tab. See Fig. 1 to the right.
5. In the New Designation text box enter the designation you would like to add to the case and click Add. If you would like to add more than one designation, repeat this step until all of the desired designations have been added to the case.
6. Designations can be re-ordered by clicking the up or down arrows beside the designation name. To rename a designation after creation, click Rename. If a designation is not longer needed, clicking Retire will remove it from the case.
7. Once all of the desired Designations have been added, click Cancel to return to the Accounts page.

Once created, the Designations will remain available in the case indefinitely or until an Account Administrator retires them.
Assigning a Custom Designation to a Document
1. During document review, if it is determined that a document needs to be stamped with a particular custom Designation during production, the reviewer will need to select the appropriate designation from the Designation drop down in the Coding Panel of the Document Viewer. See Fig. 2 to the right.
2. Once the designation is selected, it will appear in the "Designation" text box. See Fig 3. to the right.
3. Continue to code the document for Responsiveness and Privilege (if not already done), and once all coding (including the custom designation) is complete, click Save in the upper right corner to save the coding to the document.

Branding a Custom Designation During a Document Production
Once all of the documents designated for production have the appropriate custom designations selected, they will be automatically branded on the produced documents during the Production Job process.
Once the documents are added to the production job, clicking the Designations button in the Production Job Options will display the designations being used for that production and the total number of documents associated with each designation. See Fig. 4 below.
