Location: Document Viewer >> Redacted >> Metadata Redaction
The Metadata Redaction feature allows users to (i) redact email and native metadata fields directly in the Redaction Editor, (ii) redact an entire field value or only a selected portion of it, and (iii) carry those redactions through to production load files, the privilege log, and optionally, the email header printed on the document image.
Currently, this feature can do the following:
Redact the From, To, CC, BCC and Subject email fields
Redact the Author, Last Modified By, File Name and Source File Path native fields
Redact a whole field value or only a selected portion of it
Preview Metadata as it will be produced from the Metadata tab
Record each Metadata Redaction added or removed in the Document History.
Identify documents with Metadata Redactions in Browse
Flag Metadata Redaction issues during Production Validation
Metadata Redaction - A redaction applied to a document's metadata field value rather than to the document image. Redacted values appear as REDACTED in production load files and on the privilege log.
Partial Metadata Redaction - A redaction applied to only a selected p ortion of a field value (e.g., part of an email Subject line). The remainder of the value is produced as-is.
Preview as Produced - An option on the Metadata tab in the Document Viewer that displays each field as it will appear in the production, with redacted values shown as REDACTED.
Please consider the following when using Metadata Redaction
Metadata Redactions apply to load files and the privilege log.
CAUTION!!! A Metadata Redaction does not, by itself, redact the actual email header text printed on the PDF document. Currently, the header information on the document PDF must also be manually Redacted. See the Redaction Help Page for information on apply text-based redactions to the PDF documents.
Documents with a redacted metadata field will be output with full redactions in place in the PDF, IMAGES, TEXT and ORIGINALS folders.
Fields with no value display "No Value"and cannot be redacted.
Metadata redactions made in the Redaction Editor are marked with the small blue M used for manual redactions.

Metadata Redactions are applied automatically when a Production Job runs. Redacted values appear as REDACTED in the load files and the privilege log, and documents with a redacted field receive the redacted PDF and a redacted version in place of their native file. (See Fig 7 below)
